It started in late May. The anticipation growing stronger and stronger each day. As a kid, local businesswoman Deirdre DeVine could hardly wait for the month of August. For her, that meant packing up the family car and heading to the Jersey Shore for two weeks of paradise. “On the drive out, my three sisters and I would look for signs of sand on the edge of the road,” Deirdre notes. “When we saw the first traces, we would shout, ‘I see sand—we’re getting closer!’” Whether they were swimming in the ocean, crabbing on the bay or visiting Old Barney, the historic Barnegat Lighthouse, the DeVine family relished every moment of their get-away.

A True Appreciation
Back then, Deirdre would dream about living at the Shore. “There’s just nothing quite like the feeling of the cool Jersey Shore sand between my toes,” she notes. When an opportunity presented itself years ago, Deirdre didn’t have to think twice about moving to the sanctuary she had treasured as a young girl. “The day I moved here, I felt like I was home,” she recalls.
The Road to Success
Born and raised in New Jersey, Deirdre went on to graduate from the University of Delaware with a degree in accounting. When she landed her first job with one of the Big 8 accounting firms, Deirdre's successful corporate career really took off. She eventually went on to earn her CPA certificate. Throughout this time, Deirdre never stopped thinking about her love for the eighteen-mile long barrier island. In fact, she’d spend much of her summer driving the two-hour round trip back and forth to the shore so she and her two children could enjoy the beauty and recreational amenities of the area. It was only natural that Deirdre would end up making the Jersey Shore her home. Whether she’s kayaking around the sedge islands in the bay with her daughter or relaxing on the beach reading a good book, Deirdre couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunities her home affords.
